この料理の とくちょうを おしえてください。—Please tell me the characteristics of this dish.
which one (of two); which way (polite)
どちらが 好きですか。—Which one do you like?
which one (casual)
どっちの ほうが おいしい?—Which one tastes better?
than ~; more than ~
電車より バスの ほうが 安いです。—The bus is cheaper than the train.
not at all (with negative); completely
この問題は ぜんぜん むずかしくないです。—This problem is not at all difficult.
much more; far; by far; all along
あそこの ほうが ずっと しずかです。—Over there is much quieter.
a little; a bit; slightly
Bより Aの ほうが 少し 高いです。—A is a little more expensive than B.
mostly; almost; nearly
二つは ほとんど 同じですね。—The two are almost the same, aren't they.
for example
例えば、りんごより みかんの ほうが 甘いです。—For example, mandarin oranges are sweeter than apples.
not particularly; not very (used with negatives)
その映画は たいして おもしろくなかったです。—That movie wasn't particularly interesting.
